Claim rejected: not eligible (service period / pension): step-by-step
Rule source: Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) 1995 Table D & EPFO Circular No. Pension-I/7(1)2024/Table_D dated 14 June 2024. Checked on 11 October 2026.
Understanding Form 10C & Form 10D Pension Rules
Pension claims under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS) 1995 follow strict statutory calculation rules:
- Amount Calculation (Table D): The pension withdrawal amount is calculated from Table D based on completed years of service and pensionable salary. It is not your full accumulated pension balance.
- Service Under 6 Months: Under recent EPFO amendments (Circular dated 14 June 2024), members with less than 6 months of service are eligible for a proportionate withdrawal benefit under Table D.
- Service Between 6 Months and 10 Years: Eligible for withdrawal benefit calculated directly using Table D factors.
- Service Over 10 Years (Scheme Certificate & Form 10D): Lump sum withdrawal is barred. You must apply for a Scheme Certificate (Form 10C) to preserve pension rights, and submit Form 10D to receive monthly pension once you reach 58 years of age (or reduced early pension at 50).
